    • Napoleon de la Torre Well said! There are so many ways as the stars in the sky to let the students realize their shortcomings. They could have asked the students to do real community work! Like clean the Pasil fish port if they really want hard work or feeding program and that they should be the ones to prepare everything from cooking to end. Then let the students teach KATEKISIS as we called it years ago for the entire summer. Adto gyod sa pasil. The result: kids would have touch/based experience of the real world. The SCHOOL, PARENTS, COMMUNITY and the STUDENTS would have been proud of themselves. Constructive!
    • Ritche Tribo Salgado Tumpak gyud, Do... I think sa pagkahitabo ato gisilotan man dayon ang mga estudyante, murag gi-undergo pa gani sila ug recollection ug counseling nga sila sila lang... Ang nakapadako ani nga issue mao ang mga ginikanan nga in the first place mi-pirma man unta ug aware man unta sa kung unsa ang silot nga madangat sa ilang mga anak, apan ang mga ginikanan taas ra gyud ug pride ug konsintidor.

If so, ngano mo-enroll man sila nga dili man diay sila ganahan... naa man lain na school diha... pareha ra nag mo-protest ka sa Guess kay nganong mahal ang price, di man tingali, maningkamot ka nga makapalit ka kung ganahan gyud ka... if dili ka ganahan sa ilang patakaran then shoo! pero kung ganahan ka sa ilang services nga gi-offer, aw you have to abide by their rules, otherwise, shoo!

    • Rolex Elmido agree ko kang ritche. niduol unta ang mga parents sa school officials unya gisolve sa both sides ang problema nga way laing nakahibawo. nagtuo ko nga maresolve to kung ila lang to gidiscuss in private; paggawas sa media, natural nga kada sides mobarog jud sa ilang tagsatagsa ka stand, for pride's sake. gibangkong na noon tanan.

    • Jean Velasco ‎@Napoleon: These students were doing outreach program for the entire year since gradeschool through our CIP, recollection and counselling every year and as long as necessary. We have our Social Workers to facilitate the students. Our partner communities are Ermita, Pasil, Lorega San Miguel, Sambag II and Opra. We are also helping NGO's. The time they enrolled in STC-Cebu, they already knew the policies and guidelines and should live by the mission and vision of the school and CIM.

    • Jean Velasco When it comes to due process, I can attest that the school really sees to it every time incident like this or other cases (like my case before) be given time to investigate. I humbly accept my mistake and the consequence of my action. I take responsibility of it and so did my parents. But the school is very generous and kind-hearted. They gave me a chance and I went back to school. I owe a lot from my Alma Mater..ST. THERESAS COLLEGE-CEBU! I AM PROUD TO BE A THERESIAN. I always narrate to my son how the Sisters and Administrators helped and gave me the courage to stand up again, put my life in the path where I should be. I am a proud single-parent.

    • Jean Velasco We really don't know what transpires during the investigation process because it's highly confidential. This should not be sensationalized and I agree with what Mr. Rolex Elmido is saying.

    • Napoleon de la Torre Good day @ jean then the institution had been there for long good that you have such disposition and has good impact on you. In this world though at times cruel but that should be least expected from schools not just STC. Though I have limited knowledge about the school but I'm banking on the saint it's name taken MOTHER THERESA OR OTHER SAINT FOR that matter. I think they would do otherwise. If that is the case with the school programs and practices the students must be saint like and it's graduates. Why the kids did it? Not just one but five! Then there must be problems beyond the pictures maybe missed by the parents to address then they should dig deeper then and the solution if not right not enough and added more hurts than comforts and passion. Parents are not perfect if the kids actions were wrong which I really have no idea with the intention. Then school is higher than parents when it comes to wisdom. The kids were there for the longest time of there lives and why are they acting like that? And I would refuse to believe that they are beyond redemption because if that is the case its not just the students failure they are just kids but the SCHOOL'S total failure. It's just like the LOST SHEEP. The result the five girls got lost farther to the cruel wilderness. (I had my teaching stint in one of the best catholic uiniversriy in the country for 3 years). I really love my students even in their most stupid moments! Their is always a WINWIN solution in every situation if we just want to.

    • Napoleon de la Torre The community outreach program is just giving and taking pictures. The kids are not immersed to the real situation.
    • Jean Velasco with what we are doing in our partner community, we are not just taking pictures, when i was there with the community during my CIP days, i am one of those helping my foster family..it really depends to the student if she really do her tasks
    • Napoleon de la Torre Okay that is great but the amount of time spent there is just quite short. They should have the five girls do it for the entire summer 8 hours a day. I don't know the girls but since the are kids I would incline to look at the goodness nature in every person.
    • Aldo Nelbert Banaynal Wala jud koy gidapigan but makapangutana lang jud ko, If ang STC nakapasaylo ug nakahatag ug chance sa uban nga maka graduate or makabalik pagskwela, i know aplenty cases, why man kini sila wala man mapasaylo when there are other cases na mas bug-at pa unta? Even Jesus himself cradled and accepted a prostitute.
    • Jean Velasco ‎"And I would refuse to believe that they are beyond redemption because if that is the case its not just the students failure they are just kids but the SCHOOL'S total failure. " - Napoleon de la torre Opinion lang about this: I am really wondering why you said it's the School's total failure. The school is just the second home of a student, the first teachers are the parents. Every home has different upbringings, culture and beliefs. We cannot change a child overnight or with a span of years because it really depends with the child and with what she stands for. If she's enrolled in a school like STC who wants the students to live by it's thrust, we cannot force her to imbibe the beliefs of St. Theresa of Avila and with the CIM. In the end, the school and home are partners in molding a child. Many parents keep on blaming the school as if they don't have their shortcomings.

    • Aldo Nelbert Banaynal Para jud pud sa mga parents ani nila?hope wala lang jud unta sila mag in OA, ug gi take nila ni na matter secretly and not in the open to make it like a circus atmosphere, kay ila ra bata ang nasakitan..Dapat unta kay minor pa sila kabaw sila sa mga FB activities pud sa ila anak, kay lahi najud ang kalibutan karung panahuna daghan nang buang2x ug utok..predators are always there in the internet

    • Jean Velasco depende na sa kinsa na involve Aldo..pulitika baya kaayo ang kalibutan..in all aspects maski wala sa gobyerno..kung padak on..modako gyud..king ihilom..aw dili modako..and naay possibility nga ma solve
    • Aldo Nelbert Banaynal I praise man jud the nuns and the STC administration for being this firm and strong despite sa continous attacks na ila nadawat. I believe in their great cause and their sincerity and commitment to mold good students. But then there are just times na way beyond rajud ang school sa batasan sa mga bata, kay every child has a different environment sa ilang tagsa tagsa ka balay, lahi lahi sila klase nga nadak-an sa ilaha, lahi lahi ang treatment sa parents, mao di jud ta ka put blame maski kinsa.Daku pud mi siguro fault mga mediamen nga nagpadaku sa issue ug samot, mao na na highlight jud ning incidenteha...As i said kita jud tanan pildi ra ani...ang ato iampo lang is that mka move on na ang tanan ug mu give way lang sa healing...and that these students na managko ug mahimong tarong jud ug respected na individuals and would look back in time, ug makakatawa ra sila ani na incident.
    • Jean Velasco I appreciate jud sa kadtong father sa isa ka bata who wrote an article sa sun star.. i super like his article..magdaghan pa unta ang parehas niya..
    • Aldo Nelbert Banaynal Ah si Sir Bontuyan, yes klaro kaayo na he is a good father.Kay he chose to see the bigger picture.
    • Jean Velasco working in a school is a challenging profession, make or break gyud ang mahitabo.. but every action or decision naa gyud nay responsibillidad nga kauban.. let's pray for the students, parents and the school..ma resolve ra ni..God is good..

    • Napoleon de la Torre The affluent people send kids to school that they pay high price with the faith in the quality in many aspects. Parents are the first teachers but with the changing time . They are busy with work and business empire. It's real. With the choices ( kids, parents, school) I would like to choose the school as the most enlightened one being the one in control of the immediate result. It has the most advantage situation to offer WINWIN solution. The test of a teacher or administrator is to love the students even in their shortcomings. The parents are the first teachers but the name of the school is written on the diploma. Parents are not perfect and so does a school. But it should have the highest wisdom.

    • Jean Velasco How are you going to find a WINWIN solution if the issue is highly sensationalized. It's so easy to say that there's a WINWIN solution in this situation but why it reached the court and reported on national news?
